In Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, the Sherwood Event Center is now home to the Tuskegee Airmen Museum and the Center for Aviation Technology and Training (CATT). This new space, created by Hosanna House and its partners, gives visitors a chance to learn about the Tuskegee Airmen, the first Black military pilots who broke barriers during World War II.

Honoring the Tuskegee Airmen

The museum features the "Black Wings:

American Dreams of Flight" exhibit, borrowed from the Smithsonian Institution.

This display shares the powerful stories of Black aviators in history, showing the struggles they faced and the victories they achieved. Through photos, artifacts, and real-life stories, visitors can learn about the Airmen's impact on both aviation and American history.

More Than a Museum

The CATT program at the center is focused on the future. It gives students and community members hands-on learning experiences in aviation, technology, and engineering. By offering workshops and training programs, the center hopes to inspire young people to explore careers in aviation and STEM fields.

A Space for the Community Beyond history and education, the Sherwood Event Center also serves as a community hub. It hosts events, workshops, and gatherings that bring people together to celebrate Black history, innovation, and future opportunities.

This new museum and training center in Wilkinsburg is not just about remembering the past—it's about building a brighter future for the next generation.
