Mardi Gras at Elks 339 has become a Northside institution, blending New Orleans-style revelry with local flavor, community spirit, and just the right amount of mischief. Once again, Bernard Martin returns as Master of Ceremonies, guiding partygoers through a night of live music, festive eats, and, of course, the highly anticipated crowning of the Mardi Gras Queen—a secret we’d tell you, but then we’d have to exile you to Bourbon Street!
The night kicks off with the raucous sounds of Colonel Eagleberger’s High-Stepping Goodtime Band, greeting guests as they arrive. Once inside, Dixie Doc takes over, setting the soundtrack for an evening of dancing, drinks, and delicious Louisiana-style fare. Attendees can feast on beignets, gumbo, shrimp po’boys, and cheesy grits while sipping Hurricanes and enjoying a party atmosphere that rivals the French Quarter.
But Mardi Gras isn’t just about the party—it’s about giving back. This year’s event supports the Elks' Home Service Program, which provides advocacy and assistance to families of individuals with disabilities, and the Elks Building Fund, ensuring that the oldest continuously operating Elks Lodge in the world (established 1901!) remains a thriving community hub.
One of the most anticipated moments of the evening? The return of past Mardi Gras Kings, a lineup of beloved Pittsburgh icons who have carried the crown over the years. The crowd will be on the edge of their seats as the new Queen is revealed, a moment wrapped in secrecy and suspense. Who will it be? You’ll have to be there to find out!
