Summer Spectacular fireworks
Bethel Park will hold its annual Summer Spectacular fireworks display at 9:40 p.m. June 29.
Suggested viewing areas include Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, 1524 Hamilton Road; St. Germaine Church, 7003 Baptist Road; Hamilton Presbyterian Church, 4500 Hamilton Road; Cool Springs, 1530 Hamilton Road; and Lowe’s, 5775 Baptist Road. Parking lots will open at 7.
Food trucks will be at most viewing locations, including Beedle’s Ice Cream at Cool Springs, Kona Ice at Abraham Lincoln, Wu’s Shaved Ice at St. Germaine and Wild River Kettle Korn at Hamilton Presbyterian.
For those who can’t attend, Bethel Park’s BPTV will carry the event live on the Municipality of Bethel Park and BPTV Facebook pages, as well as on BPTV’s YouTube channel and on cable TV channels 21 (Comcast) and 32 (Verizon).
Fireworks will be set off from Millennium Park. No guests are permitted there.
The rain date is June 30.
Dean Streator concert series
The 2024 Dean Streator Summer Concert Series, sponsored by the Bethel Park Community Foundation, kicks off with a performance at 2:30 p.m. July 7 in the Bethel Park Community Center auditorium. As in past years, the series runs for five consecutive Sunday afternoons:
• July 7 — Community Band South will present a program of marches, popular favorites and concert pieces.
• July 14 — New Vintage Big Band will transport listeners back in time. Dancing is encouraged.
• July 21 — Pittsburgh Banjo Club will perform toe-tapping favorites from yesteryear.
• July 28 — Allegheny Brass Band will entertain with a wide variety of musical styles.
• Aug. 4 — Keystone Chorus wraps up the series with barbershop harmonies and sing-alongs.
The concerts are free, but contributions to the BP Community Foundation are welcome. The Foundation funds scholarships and projects that benefit residents of Bethel Park in the areas of arts and culture, health and recreation, education and safety.
Doors open at 1:30. Parking is limited.
Memorial car cruise
A #Garystrong Memorial Car Cruise is scheduled for noon to 4 p.m. June 29 at Highpoint Fitness, 1000 Higbee Drive, Bethel Park.
The cruise is open to classic, exotic and super cars and trucks, with a $5 donation per participating show vehicle. No show vehicles are allowed before 11 a.m., and no alcohol is permitted.
Admission is free for spectators. Food trucks and a DJ will be on site.
Highpoint Fitness will host an open House with open swim in its aquatic center. All proceeds benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

South Hills Coin Club
The monthly meeting of the South Hills Coin Club will be held at 7:30 p.m. July 9 at the Bethel Park Municipal Building, 5100 W. Library Ave., Bethel Park. Members and the general public are invited.
The program will be the annual summer pizza party. A 50/50 will be offered and children’s prizes awarded. For more information, call 724-984-6611.
Pop-up book sale
The Bethel Park Lions Club will host a pop-up books sale from 9 a.m. to p.m. July 12 at Lions Park, Irishtown Road.
All items are $1 or less. Proceeds benefit the Lions Club.
Environmental lecture series
Thanks to a donation by the N. David & Janet M. Campbell Family Foundation, the Bethel Park Historical Society again will team up with the Allegheny Land Trust for an environmental lecture series in 2024-25.
The lectures will be held at the Schoolhouse Arts and History Center, 2600 South Park Road, beginning in September.
The first lectures are on Sept. 9: Animal Athletes, 5 to 6 p.m., and All About Hummingbirds, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Registration is required.

Gentle yoga offered
Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair will offer gentle yoga (55-plus friendly), slow-moving yoga poses with a focus on proper alignment and breath to build bone strength, balance and flexibility.
The program takes place from 10 to 11 a.m. Mondays, July 8 through 29, at the church, 2040 Washington Road. Cost is $36.

The Bethel Park Farmers’ Market takes place from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Sept. 25 in the parking lot in South Park along Corrigan Drive. Enjoy musical guests, special educational speakers, story time with friends from the Bethel Park Public Library and more.
